How long will we operate from a place of wounding—trying to earn our way? Trying to prove ourselves worthy? Trying to rewrite the stories of our past? How long will we neglect the gospel message and the work of our Good Father?
It is hard to run a race—striving towards Jesus, while still clinging to our chains and burdens of the past. If He calls us to abundant life and freedom, why aren’t we saying yes? Freedom: it is not something we have to earn or work for—as a child of God—it is something that we already are.
When we operate and strive from this place of yearning for love or acceptance, are we not living from a place that is rooted in the lie that God is not enough? Where do we pick up this pressure to strive, to be “better”, to compare and to “win”—when Jesus already did the work? All we have to do is be willing to rest in the finished work of grace. To get our identity from what already is—because of WHO is.
Freedom is always about Jesus.
“Freedom is not about doing whatever we want most—but the opportunity to do what is most Christ-like.” Ann Voskamp
So what do we do with the mess? Because we all have mess. Wounds of the past, the anxiety and fear can be a gift. Sometimes I wonder if those who have never truly tasted fear, have ever truly tasted bravery. To be courageous—because Jesus is who He says—regardless of the fact that you’re terrified. It is in these moments when His strength fills the voids created by my weaknesses and it’s in the moments where I cannot breathe on my own that I am reminded of how great our God truly is.
It is never a story focused on our faults. It is a story—His story—of continual rescue and grace. That He would seek and save me.

We can break free, after years of wandering in the wilderness and years of looking for all the wrong things to satisfy—years of trying our own way and following our own map. We can break free and surrender.
If you are facing brokenness and wounds that seem too great, will you be bold enough to ask in faith for Him to move? We aren’t responsible for the healing, only for the asking. So will we ask Him—and believe He will?
Today: Step out in faith. Wait for Him to move—expectantly. Because God will move. Then walk into freedom.
